Connecticut – Talcott Mountain State Park: Enjoy the 1,000-foot high promontory providing a splendid view of the Connecticut landscape. On the horizon, Mount Monadnock is discernible. To the northwest, the Berkshires dominate the horizon. Long Island Sound is a thin blue streak to the south. Hikers may encounter a variety of wildlife including deer, fox and rabbits in this natural sanctuary. Bird watchers enjoy occasional sightings of the turkey vulture, bald eagle, and pileated woodpecker.

Maine – Wadsworth Longfellow House: The boyhood home of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is the oldest standing structure on the Portland peninsula; built in the 1780’s by his grandfather, General Peleg Wadsworth. The home is furnished with many original items. Henry’s sister, Anne Longfellow Pierce, donated the home to the Maine Historical Society upon her death in 1901. See an original painting of George Washington, personal friend of Peleg Wadsworth, on the docent led tour.

Massachusetts – Museum of Fine Arts Boston: MFA is a best-of-Boston. Everything is done thoughtfully, completely, and first-class. You will be impressed. The museum is known for the following: vast Asian and Egyptian collections, many Monet’s, Sargent’s and Copley’s. MFA is the largest museum in New England. Check the current rotating exhibits.

New Hampshire – America’s Stonehenge: Explore the many mysteries of this ancient place with man-made chambers, walls and ceremonial meeting places that are over 4,000 years old. Great fun is in store for the whole family when exploring the 20 acres of trails, caves, and stone artifacts. The kids will love to see the Alpaca’s!

Rhode Island – Marble House: Marble House was built between 1888 and 1892. Built as a summer house or “cottage” it was also a social and architectural landmark. Newport’s “cottages” turned this small colony of wooden houses into a legendary resort for the wealthy.

Vermont – Billings Farm & Museum: Explore one of the finest Jersey dairy farms in America and a museum of Vermont’s rural past. Get comfortable with our cows, sheep, horses, oxen, and chickens through daily activities and programs. The operating farm, engaging farm life exhibits, and award-winning 1890 Farm House showcase this Woodstock landmark.
